A safari is not a destination. It is a particular kind of trip, with particular rules, the best moments happen at first light or last, the camp manager makes or breaks the week, and the right vehicle has two seats fewer than is convenient.
I work with private mobile camps, owner-run lodges, and the small number of conservancies where the relationships with the families and the guides are mine personally. I do not place safaris by season, I place them by who is in camp that week.
The trip you remember is rarely the one with the most sightings. It is the one with the conversation around the fire on the third night, when everyone has stopped performing and the bush is doing the work.
